Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce Presents the Annual Bacardi
Golf Tournament, October 19th, 2008

It was a fabulous Chamber of Commerce day for our Lower Keys
Chamber’s Annual
Bacardi Golf Tournament held Sunday, October 19th at the
Key West Golf Club on Stock
Island. The Bacardi girls on holes #10 and #15, passing out
Bacardi cocktails featuring
regular Bacardi, flavored Bacardi and Grey Goose Vodka were
a favorite with the
golfers as well as the Marine Bank Hot Dog Wagon volunteers,
(Anita Brouwer, JoAnn
Saunders and Bob Moore) who cooked up hot dogs and hamburgers
(for breakfast, of
course) to hungry golfers. John and Genevieve Isaksen of
Isaksen’s Insurance provided a
Hospitality Tent featuring Bloody Marys, Screwdrivers and
Margaritas to put everyone in
the right mood.
Golfers paired off in a four person scramble
for cash prizes totaling $1,600.00. First
place winners were Brian Callihan, Michael Feltman, Pam Smith
and David Roney who
took home $600.00. Second place went to Matt Thomas, Paul
Bouchard and Michael
Maxheleau who took home $500.00, third place to Brett and
Geleen Toresdahl, Bob, and
Fran Decker for $300.00 and rounding out fourth place were
Mike Beal, Mark Miller,
John Wartle and Roger Bozard who took home $200.00. The Putting
Contest was won by Michael Feltman who received 4 Rounds
of Golf at the Key West Golf Club for his efforts; Bob Decker
and Mike Feltman “Beat George the Pro” (not
an easy feat) for extra raffle tickets. Merchandise and gift
certificates donated by many local businesses were
awarded to golfers who made the longest putt or landed closest
to the pin on each of
eighteen holes as well as raffle items and the Chamber’s
silent auction. Unfortunately,
there were no winners for the Hole in One prize of $25,000.00
which was sponsored by
TIB, Bank of the Keys although I understand at least two
golfers were extremely close to
the hole.
